Bleah.

I just heard from my VP. This year, I'm going from teaching 11 and 12th grade AP and Honors classes to teaching beginning English Language. Ugh.

I have only myself--well, myself and some District dipshits--to blame. I wanted McClatchy, and I didn't want to drive to Rosemont every day, so I chose the CKM job over the Rosemont job. I knew it would be a step backward, but I didn't know how BIG a step--when I asked, the answer I got sounded better than the reality. I don't know how much of that is my inexperience and how much is just stupidity on all sides.

In any case, I certainly didn't think it meant teaching kids how to sound out words, which is what my VP says it is. That's not exactly my strength. But, we do what we must, so I'll put my all into it and hope that it's just this year; that next year I can move to another class. That may mean that next year I'll have to move schools; I'd rather not, but I'd also rather be teaching more than the alphabet and phonics. It's a bit of a waste to have a degree in Literature and not be teaching it.
