Huh. Imagine that.
So today I logged into Zangle, the district's scheduling/attendance system, told it that today was September 9, and saw my schedule and my classes. And it's not as bad as I'd thought. Not at all. In fact, I'm kind of happy with it. Except for one thing, which I'm not unhappy about, but it's going to be . . . well, look:
Period 1: English Language Development (Beginning): 7 Students
Period 2: English 9 28 Students
Period 3: English 9 28 Students
Period 4: English 12 and 12.1 (combined)* 34 Students
Period 5 PREP
Period 6: English 9 27 Students
Total number of students: 96
The most students I've ever had in my career--remember, I worked in a small school about 200 students--was 70. And haven't had more than 28 in a classroom since my first year. So this is going to be an adjustment. But that's ok, because I'm only teaching one ELD class! And looking at the transcripts available for the students in my Eng 12 and Eng 9 classes, they're all over the map in terms of ability, so I'm not just teaching numbskull classes.
MUCH happier now.
