Mass Effect 2
I LOVE THIS GAME.
Just saying. I started it last night, courtesy of my lovely wife, and it's
freaking cool. Storyline is already gripping, and I only played for an hour
and a half. It took me a few minutes to get used to the differences between
it and ME1, namely the differences for biotics, but once I got used to it, I
loved it. The hacking minigames are more interesting now, too. Instead of
"Simon Says" button pushing, you actually have to think about what you're
doing, and you're on a timer, so it's more intense as an experience: when
you're looking for a particular bit of data while the timer is going into
the red, you get a little frantic, your eyes tracking fast, flicking around
the screen like a madman--or maybe that's just me.
The biotic adept can now map powers to more than one button, which I
appreciate. Makes the combat more immersive. One thing I'm NOT fond of is
that I can't put my gun away when on a mission. I liked, in the first one,
walking around, and when I saw an enemy, whipping out the pistol. Visually
it just worked for me. But in ME2, except for a few cutscenes, you're
walking around with your gun out at all times. Might be more realistic,
given the missions you're on, but I would have liked to be able to make that
choice myself.
Anyway. LOVE it.
