Reasons to leave this profession
After all the work I did to become a teacher, I do seriously consider leaving the field. I'm just so sick of this kind of thing:
"Do we want these thieves and liars teaching our children? We must, we keep
paying them to teach how to cheat and lie-just like a democrat.

That's because you like to do as little as possible 8 hours a day 5 days a
week and get as much pay and benefits as you can... That’s what unions have
become, vehicles to see how little work they can do for the most pay… Yep,
the system is rigged in favor of those who don't mind working hard for 50 to
60 plus hours a week to reach the American Dream….

Sure, I didn't get into teaching for the accolades, but jaysus, it gets old hearing this sort of shit. And no, it doesn't really help to remember that none of these people really know anything about me or any other teacher they're trashing--if anything, it makes it worse.
Thomas Jefferson advocated for public, free education because, he said, it would create an educated voting public--and without the education to vote responsibly, what's the point or the use of Democracy? Unfortunately, he was wrong--we've created a nation of sound-bite loving, I-read-it-so-it-must-be-true morons, most of whom don't even vote, and the ones who do, vote based on appearance, or one single issue.
Frankly, I'd rather live under a Monarchy. Or maybe no--most of those aren't doing so well, these days. Maybe a Constitutional Monarchy, then?
(I don't actually hate democracy, folks. I'm just frustrated over stupid people.)
