I've been married for almost two months now, and I'm still jazzed and happy about it. Last night, I woke up at about 3:30am, looked over at Elli, and got a huge dopey smile before I went back to sleep. It's grand.

Which is not to say, of course, that I'm completely stress-free. My CBEST* examination is this Saturday, and that's stressing me out a bit. While it's certainly true that I'll ace the Reading Comprehension and Writing sections, the Mathematics section will be a challenge. If I fail that section, I can retake it in October, but I'd really rather pass all three sections at once. So I'm reviewing the relevant skills, re-training myself to do mixture problems (which is one of my weaknesses) and quadratic equations.

Preperation for school is underway, and I'm eagerly looking forward to every one of my classes -- I was able to get classes that not only meet the requirements for graduation, but which fall within my interest range. And one of them, a class on Anthropology, could even help my Stargate SG-1 game! Sort of.

Anyway, time to get back to work.

* That's the California Basic Educational Skills Test, an examination all prospective teachers in my state must pass.

You'll probably do ok on the math. I passed the CBEST a few years back without a problem, and my higher math skills have always kind of, well, sucked.

Honey if my mother can pass the math and she is discalculic and math-phobic, you can pass well... Best of luck and all my happy thoughts go with you (you can return the good vibe when I take my LSATs in October!!!)

in the same vein as the above 2 posts, no worries, you'll pass, the CBEST is a piece of cake. Same here, not that great at math but had no problems with the CBEST. Basically, it's a test of high-school level intelligence. :) IMHO, if someone isn't bright enough to pass it, they're probably not bright enough to teach. ;)

Michael, you will be fine. I think the only way for you to fail would be for you to have a panic attack, write "I am a Fish" 500 times and pass out.

Chris, perhaps this time the bubbles will stop jumping around on you--that way the numbers and your answers will line up.

hugs to everyone

I wish you well. And, as encouragement, while you may consider your skills lacking in certain areas, I've seen the people that do manage to pass that test and I can say with confidence that you are leagues beyond them. Just don't stress, and I'm sure you will pass.
