My WaMu card arrived today. This is good. However, the problem with having such a long name has now been discovered.

On the card, my name is Michael Robert Eugene John.

This better never cause me issues. Though if it does, I can have the bank shorten it by dropping the "Eugene" from the record. I didn't even think of that when I filled out the form.

Then why have all that on the card? My understanding was that you had to sign what was on the card... or would have to, provided anyone ever bothered to check.

The form didn't ASK for "middle initial," it asked for Middle Name specifically. So I put the whole thing.

From now on, I'm just using "Robert" as my middle name, except on legal papers where I have to put my full legal name.

That's pretty funny, in an obnoxious way. I'd call and say "um hi, can I have a card that says MICHAEL R E JOHNSTON" or something. :)

I think I'll do that *after* my credit card is paid off, so that I'll have quick access to funds if I need them. If Wamu is like any other bank, they'll cancel my card before sending me a new one.
