So, let me get this straight ...

The Apple iPod mini is smaller, holds only 4GB (granted, that's 1,000 songs, give or take, but still), and is $250.

At that price, I'd rather spend $50 more and get the 15GB model, or save for a while and get the larger models. Not that I even HAVE that much music, but it's the principle here.

I think the idea is that the mini is smaller and comes in colors, but I agree with you. I think maybe the price will come down significantly in the next few months, but we'll see. The problem is, of couse, the drive inside is still quite complicated and expensive, even if it's only 4GB.

This is Apple. Much as I love them, the principle with them seems to be 'it's cuter'.
