Laura said her apartment tried to do that to her too, but she raised hell, informed them she had already taken the time off work and that they had to have it ready when they said it would be. It worked for her. I wouldn't think that would work in the real world.

Problem is, they warned us when we made the deposit that it might take longer than the 15th. So they can easily say we knew it might happen and agreed to it (which is accurate, dammit).
