The whole "Books" thing.
I've been debating doing the whole "books I've read" mini-reviews as some of my friends do. And the main reason I haven't is kind of funny.
I'm actually somewhat afraid of being judged for not only what I read, but what I think about it. I see far, far too much of that in English Teacher circles, and often in teacher circles in general, and it really, really bothers me.
I love Star Wars novels. There. I said it. Sometimes they're good, sometimes they're bad, but they are always, ALWAYS entertaining to me. And I don't want folks looking down their noses at me for it.
On the other side of the spectrum, of course, I love Literary fiction like Mishima and Jin, Ishiguro and Austen, Deane and Joyce. Ok, I'm not super-fond of Joyce, to be honest.
Anyway, I should probably get over it. Anyone who reads this and judges me for what I read is probably not someone I want to be friendly with, right?
