Year Four Begins
This morning I begin the 2009/2010 school year, with some mixed feelings.
I'm glad to get back to the job I love, and I'm glad to see "my kids" again. But I'm sad to leave my daughter. This past summer has been really good for Tegan and I; we've bonded on a level we just couldn't during my working year. She asks for me as often as she does for her mom now.
Some of my favorite kids are graduating this year, and while that's 10 months off, and getting them out of here is really the crux of my job, but it's a very bittersweet thing.
I finally really feel like I know what I'm doing in the classroom, but I've got a student teacher now, which makes me nervous. In a very real way, I'm shaping someone else's first years in the career. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders, and the stuff he's said he struggles with, I'm pretty good at, so I think we're a good fit, but... yeesh.
Anyway. Here we go!
