Podcasts and my personal foibles
I've been listening to The Butcher Block, a podcast about the writing of Jim
Butcher (and associated fandoms). It's presented by both Fred Hicks, who is
a friend of Butcher and the designer of the Dresden Files RPG (which I'm
/really/ looking forward to), and occasionally by Priscilla Spencer.
Now, I've got nothing against Priscilla; I'm sure she's a great person whom
I'd probably be perfectly fine with in real life. However, I've found that
I automatically turn off any podcast she presents, as I just can't stand the
way she modulates her voice on the podcast. It's just too forced and "Hey,
listen to me EMOTE!" for me. When she's a guest on Fred's podcasts, this is
lessened, and she's bearable. Meh.
I've also all but given up on Podshock, the Doctor Who podcast, because
Louis Trepani's voice and speaking mannerisms bug the crap out of me. The
other two are fine, but again, meh.
