Ok. Overall: I liked it. I especially like the tragedy of Magneto, whose motives are purely to safeguard his people and never allow the horrors of the Holocaust to surface again, never realizing that the means he chooses towards that end make him every bit as villainous as those he fights. His hatred of humans makes him the mirror image of the Nazis and the anti-mutant forces he so despises, and the heart of the character is his failure to realize that--or, if we assume he does realize it, his failure to care. That's why the X-Men is a good book.
That said... while I get that there are changes made in translation from book to film, and I'm generally ok with that, some of the changes just bother me. F'rinstance... Juggernaut? He's a) NOT A MUTANT, and b) Xavier's stepbrother. Those facts would not have lessened the character in the movie, in my opinion, so why change them? Would he then be too layered? I can see making him a mutant for the movie, since like all comic-book based movies, it conveniently ignores every aspect of the Marvel Universe except the one the movie is about (which is a whole other pet peeve).
Psylocke: Why even bother naming the character Psylocke, when the only aspect of the character she shares with her comics counterpart is the fact she's Asian, what's the point of it? Now they can't do her right in any possible future movies.
