I just ordered my free annual credit reports from the three big services, courtesy of Federal law and www.annualcreditreport.com. I highly reccomend you do this. Here's why:
1) It's free. No "trial period," no "Pay us $45 and we'll give you a 'free' report" crap. Absolutely free.
2) I found that not only did the County medical insurance NOT pay one of my fees (which now means I look like a deadbeat on an expensive account) like they said they would, but I found (after investigating) that my account is still "pending" because ONCE AGAIN, the CMISP people had the wrong address. This time, they thought I was at 2509 O Street, despite that fact that when I last spoke to them, they got my correct address.
Note for those who don't know: I NEVER lived at 2509 O. I did once live at 2508 Q, but now live somewhere else, where CMISP has sent me mail and called me. Idiots.
3) I found that one of the reporting agencies has me listed as never paying a bill that the other two list as paid, and which my records show I paid, a year ago. So that's getting smacked.
Gah.
I also discovered I'm still on an account belonging to my ex. It's in good standing, but I need to call and get off that account.
Edit: Thanks to the guy who first posted this stuff.
