My usual Tuesday schedule has been go to Japanese class, go to History, have a nice slow lunch, go to my two afternoon classes, be home by 3:30.

Today, it was "Get up late, rush to polling place, vote (after waiting half an hour with some really stupid people blithering near me, then rush to class."

Left to do:

Wolf down lunch.
Get employment paperwork done
Go to copy center and print out Coleridge paper
Go to Shakespeare class
Go to Romanticism class
Go straight to work and work until 11pm.

Oh yeah -- I got the job at the library. It's not much -- probably no more than 15 hours a week at minimum wage -- but it will give me money for incidentals and food, which was the lowest part of my budget previously.

Oh -- Elisandra, dearest, can I stop by tonight after work to get my glasses? If you'll be asleep (this will be about 11:30), I can either skip it or just not disturb you, your choice.

Please vote.

Ok, look. If you're not an anarchist, get your ass out there and vote. Vote for Kerry, Bush, Badnarik, or Mickey Mouse; I really don't care who you vote for. Vote on the propositions and measures. Vote.

Why? Because you can, and that's a blessing a lot of people on this planet don't have. Because good men gave their lives to protect this right for you. Because my grandfather took several bullets and a lot of shrapnel 60 years ago to ensure you could do it. But most of all, do it because if you don't, you let others decide for you.

If you're one of those people who thinks the system is evil and so you don't vote, well, sorry, I have zero respect for your opinion on this score. Don't bother responding to this post; your anti-voting rhetoric will fall on deaf ears. Feel free to post it on your own journal, where I will similarly refrain from commenting.

And if you're one of my friends who already plans to vote and doesn't want to hear this shit anymore? Well, good for you. This wasn't aimed at you.

Upside: I have a job with at least enough pay to make things easier once my loans refresh.

Downside: Gone are my lazy Sunday afternoons with Elli.

My schedule is kind of good, kind of eh:

Thursday 4pm-7pm
Friday 12noon - 3pm
Saturday 12 Noon - 5:30pm
Sunday 3pm - 7pm.

I'll end up working more hours during the winter break, because everyone but me flies off to visit relatives for the holidays, whereas I'm still here in town. I'm betting things will be eerily quiet then; how many students will need the library during break? Not many.

Also, I'm working tomorrow night 7pm - 11pm to cover someone else who needed the night off.

This job may be helpful on the weight loss front, too -- I'm almost constantly moving, and carrying frelling heavy stacks of magazines and bound magazines. Ouch. I HURT. I'm glad I won't have any more eight-hour shifts.

Now I'm off to close the place down, then go get my reading glasses from my sweetie and give her some big kisses. Yummy. Then off to bed.

Tomorrow is Day Of Writing, wherein I try to get my Romanticism paper finished. No, not try. I WILL. Because it's due Thursday afternoon.
