Frelling banks.
So I went to the bank (Bank of America) to get a cashier's check for my final car payment.
No can do -- the money is on Hold until the 12th.
What the fuck?
Seems I deposited "too much" money, and the bank placed it on hold to see if anyone freaks out or complains. Oh, for the love of ... I used to deposit checks in that same amount twice a fricking month, but now it's too much because I haven't had a job that pays well in two years.
Fuckers. I tried explaining to them that this was money given to me for a freelance job. No dice. I explained that this freelance work was for my aunt, and offered to get her in touch with them to clear the amount. No dice. So I basically have to sit and wait until Friday to pay anything.
Now, in some respects, this isn't TOO much of a hardship. The car payment isn't actually DUE until the 19th, and the other bills that are clamoring for payment will hold off until Friday. But the principle of the matter annoys me. Since when do banks have the right to place holds on my money? Who made them Big Brother?
Update: Apparently Bank policy says any non-payroll check that is over a certain amount gets a 5-day hold. It's damned inconvenient, but oh well.
