Because those bastards have reminded me how much I miss playing. Mind you, the stuff I played way back when was decidedly different than what they do, and even when I play again I likely won't go near their kind of stuff, and my skill level is now back to "completely useless", but ... I miss it. It's one of the things I look forward to taking up again when my money issues are no longer there.

And in case you didn't get it, I don't hate TKT -- they're frelling great. And I'd say that even if two of my friends weren't in the band (Though, to be fair, if they weren't friends I'd never have heard TKT play).

The human race has now lost three probes on or over Mars: The soviet Phobos II, the Mars Observer, and Spirit (though Spirit may yet respond to signals).

Either we don't know how to build these things properly or there's something going on. I mean, come on -- shouldn't NASA be able to spend $820,000,000 and make the thing work for more than a week?

Or does it work fine, but someone else doesn't want us there yet? I don't actually believe the latter possibility, but I refuse to completely deny it. In an infinite universe, after all, anything is possible, though a great many things are improbable.

So ... either "something is out there", or our scientists and engineers need to get their asses on the ball.

If the same thing happens to Opporunity, I'll be very unsurprised.

My words are inadequate to reveal the majesty of this.

It is possible that non-Literary types may not like it as much as I do. Such is the risk you take when you click.

The HERO 5th ed. game I was previously calling "The Arcanum" has now become "The League." I made this change for two reasons; chief of which is that "The Arcanum" as it applies to a Champions game was created for Champions MUSH by the game's GM, the inimitable Chris/Charon (later renamed Soul... uhm, I forget), whom I miss terribly and hope is doing well in his studies. The second reason is that I just like the sound of it, even though it begs comparison to The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen*, among other "League" titles.

I'm now trying to decide what kind of world this game will inhabit. The campaign is very occult-based (and fair warning, kids -- it's comic-book occult-based, with only a tiny tiny percentage of real world knowledge mixed in for fun. Don't expect realistic portrayals of, well, ANY mystic traditions), concerning one team's secret war against the powers of Darkness.

Here are the ways I can set the world up:

The Pulp Way )
So. I'm torn, really. Answer this, please:

1) Which method would appeal more to you, if you were playing in this game?
2) Why? Be expressive, because "I just like it better" is not helpful in any way whatsoever. It is an F response.***

* Which I really must read sometime
** A cheesy line, to be sure, but I wrote it ten years ago in the now lamentably-missing Song of the TechnoShaman and fell in love with it.
*** Any smartasses who do it anyway to tweak me will only irritate me. It's a predictable response and you're all better than that.

People who PLAN to play in this campaign, I REALLY want your advice
