So. Game night was enjoyable, for the time spent among friends. I got a little more knowledge of
uncledark, which was worth going in itself. He's neat. After that, it got briefly weird.
Elli decided she wanted to go home, and being a good and decent boyfriend I walked her there. On the way we passed Gregory and two of his friends, Lan and Michael G. (who is also Elli's friend), who were having dinner.
Interesting. Elli was greeted. I was not, which is more or less what I expected. I felt quite out-of-sorts; nothing makes me uncomfortable so much as being near people I know hate me. I could feel the effort Gregory put into ignoring me; it was uncanny. He did that little "I'm going to look everywhere but at you" thing, as well as the plastic smile that says "I'm going to pretend I'm ok with seeing you, but really I can't stand you and refuse to acknowledge your existence" that he does so well.
Neither Lan nor Michael G. said anything to me. Lan I wouldn't expect to, he doesn't really know me and we were never friends. Plus, he's part of Gregory's circle and so likely doesn't think much of me. Fair enough. Michael G, though ... I've met him, talked with him. We used to be somewhat friendly. So that was a bit hurtful. But then, he's buddies with Kara, who absolutely hates me and has lots of theories of how stupid I am, so it's also not unexpected.
Bah. It was an uncomfortable thing, but one you have to accept when you all live in this small area of town. Fortunately, it got better as Elli and I continued on, talking as we do, and I left her with a good-night kiss and returned to my home, bed, and cats.
But I slept badly and had awful dreams of death and sacrifice. Not the good, dramatic kind, but the nasty kind. Bleah.

The Friday Five
1. What food do you like that most people hate?
Scotch Eggs, to judge by my friends. You take a hardboiled egg, cover it in ground sausage, bread that, and deep-fry it. It's a cardiac torture device, but damned yummy.
2. What food do you hate that most people love?
Avocado. Also, mostly based on my family, barbecued chicken.
3. What famous person, whom many people may find attractive, is most unappealing to you?
Male: Ben Affleck.
Female: Mariah Carey.
4. What famous person, whom many people may find unappealing, do you find attractive?
I honestly can't come up with one.
5. What popular trend baffles you?
The pants-around-the-thighs thing. The over-the-shoulder shirt thing.
