#2 thing I never want to hear my players say:

"I don't know why my character did that."

Excuse me? The character is a part of you. It may have different morals, different goals, and think differently, but honey, YOU created the damned thing. If you don't understand it, you can't play it.

I'm fine with "*I* wouldn't have done that, but *HE* would." Sure. Darik did all sorts of things I'd never do. So does Alex Blaine, hell, so does Rowan. But I can still tell you WHY he did those things.

If you can't explain the actions of your character, something is wrong in Player Land.

Item: I have to get up early on Saturday to get my annual eye exam. Yay.

Item: I want to hate the new Battlestar: Galactica SciFi channel is creating. I want to. I want to kick my wall and rant about how it pisses on everything the original Battlestar was* and curse Ronald Moore to the nine hells for "re-imagining" my beloved show.**

Trouble is ... based on the stuff I've seen for it, both commercials and preview stuff on the Sci Fi Channel website ... it looks like it will be good.

It won't be the same show ... but it will have the same themes, and it will be worth watching, I suspect.

Dammit.

* Those who are tempted to post "Galactica sucked!", pay attention here: Look. The original show had some major Cheese Factors, but it also had a great story about a shattered culture searching for their last hope, about friendships upon which the fates of everyone depend, and a titanic struggle between good and evil forces bigger than the characters themselves. It was good and worthy, and if you could get by the cheesy elements and the crap that is due to the era in which the show was made, you'd see that.

**Yes, I still love it. I can't wait until I can afford the entire series on DVD. So nyeah.
