NOTE: This vitriol in this entry does not apply to non-California residents.

I am deeply, deeply ashamed of my state.

Ok, I could deal with the fact that the majority of voters, uninformed and uninspired to actually get off their asses and find information beyond the soundbites of political ads, would vote to recall Davis. I didn't like it, but I could deal with it.

But Schwarzaneggar? Arnold Fucking Scwharzaneggar? What the hell is wrong with you people?

What really bugs me is that this frelling actor -- who can't even properly say the name of the state -- ran a campaign full of half-truths and lies. He said Davis' spending was out of control, despite two important facts: Spending is the purview of the legislature, not the Governor, and spending under Davis was lower than under Pete Wilson, George Dukemeijan, and Ronald Reagan. He said that under Davis California's school were ranked 27th in the nation, and neglected to point out that when Davis took office, they were ranked 43rd.

Schwarzaneggar never once outlined a solid plan to pull California out of the economic slump it's in. He just said he'd do it. He's full of empty words, and now he's in the center seat. That's just great.

Edit: Removed negative comments to non-voters. I still think you're insane, but decided the insult was unnecesary and crude.

I forgot this yesterday: Margaret Cho's Weblog is ... interesting. She writes badly, to be honest, full of errors and run-on sentences. On the other hand, it's nice to see her write as herself and not as a "Professional", to see the human, non-star side of her. I like it. It's not as polished as, say, George Takei's site, but it's more of her than George lets us see. Which is odd, since in person George is one of the warmest, fan-friendly stars I've met - and I've met quite a few.

* Atsutake is the name given to my WWII Japanese Officer's sword, aka a Shin-gunto. The name translates as "Master of the Waterfall", unless I translated it badly (the name was given by another).

** Henry and Talia are names we use now when discussing theoreticals. They may or may not be the actual names given when and if that time comes.

I love me the Asian pop music. Whether it's from China, Japan, or Korea, I love the stuff. Japanese ranks highest, primarily because I can understand it better (though not great yet).

Hell, the Kinki Kids (Japanese pop duo, brothers) could be singing "Americans suck, kill them all" and I'd still love it. I do like, however, that they're not singing that. ;)

I'd just like to say that I'm proud to have friends I can violently disagree with (and argue with) on political issues and yet still be friends. You have no idea how rare that has been in my life.

If this Christian Science Fair is a hoax (I'm beginning to suspect it's run by the same people responsible for the Landover Baptist Church parody site), it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

If it's real, it's scary beyond all reason.*

* That last link is an in-joke about an old Werewolf game. Let it go. ;)
