DAMN you people post a lot.*
Now that I've caught up with everything you all posted over the weekend, allow me to regale you with my tale:
Friday evening
elisandra, the roommate
mslulu and her boychik
ox_number_10 went to see
darkmoon and the rest of The Kimberly Trip perform. Yay! I wasn't enamored of their opening band, but TKT was impressive. Afterwards Elli, Mslulu, Ox and I went to Eppies to get dessert and the Worst Service Ever. At least there was a brief floorshow in the running argument between some of the waitstaff. Afterwards we each went to our respective places of sleep, and crashed out as the tired beings we were.
Saturday, Elli and I travelled to the One True City, of which all other cities are merely Shadows: San Francisco. We parked in Ber(zer)keley and took BART across the bay, then walked an unnecessary-but-nice 15 blocks or so to catch the N Train out to Ocean Beach. We got off at the Haight and sought out food, which turned out to be a very nice Ethiopian meal. NUMMY!
Elli's friends flaked on us, but we shrugged and moved on, taking the N and then BART back to Berkeley to get back in Grover (the inimitable Grover being the cute four-wheeled transport belonging to Elli) and head down to Palo Alto, where we spent much of the evening in the company of Katie, Elli's eldest sister. Katie was very warm and welcoming to me, and I got a kick out of her. She's now on my official list of Neat People. We briefly saw
lemur_hunter, which was nice, and I only wish we and she had had more time to spend catching up.
Eventually, Elli and I made it back to Sacramento at about 3am.
Sunday, after recovery, we spent much of the day just lounging at each of our houses for a time, eventually having dinner with Mslulu and Ox -- the first sit-down-actually-cooked-by-me-in-my-house dinner (as opposed to heat & serve stuff). We made an attempt to get highly inebriated, but most of us didn't.
Monday, we lazed around in the am, then went to my family's for dinner. It was pleasant. Elli jumped right in and helped out with prep work, which I could tell impressed my aunt, and except for a hiccup in which my family remembered Elli doesn't eat meat, all went well.
* Yes yes, pot and kettle, move along.
