I was talking to my grandfather and mentioned that I love San Francisco. He said "Your grandmother did, too. She called it her true home."
I'd never known that, and I'm glad I do now -- it makes me feel a little bit closer to her.
I miss my grandmother ever so much. I have no idea what our relationship would have been like, had she lived to see me grown. But the memories of my cherished Mimi have stayed with me. I lost her at such a young age that I can't help but think the world of her, because that's all I knew -- this was Mimi, who cared for me like no one else, who showed me more love than even my mother did.
