1. What was the last book you read? Did you enjoy it?
Shon'Jir, the second book in the Faded Sun trilogy of C.J. Cherryh.
2. What's your favorite book of all time?
Oooh, hard choice. I'd have to say, though, that Dragonflight wins that title, though it's not a very prestigious choice for a Lit major to make. It's the book I go back to read when I'm feeling terrible, the book that always makes me feel better.
3. What's the worst book you've ever read?
Easy -- Mendocino Medicine Man, by Carol Tillotson. It is a self-published piece of SHITE that my bookstore manager bought for the "prestige" of selling the work of a local author. We sold exactly two copies, the rest were used by the staff on slow nights -- we'd read to each other, and the person who broke first lost. It was full of terrible, terrible prose -- I cannot tell you the enormity of horror within those pages. But at home I have some quotes in an old Employee journal, which I'll post another time. Someone must share the horror.
4. What book that you've read would you most like to see adapted into a movie?
Chung Kuo, if done right. It would be difficult, though, especially with the PC conventions of hollywood (until the fourth book, only Chinese and caucasian people exist on Earth, the rest having been wiped out in the early 21st century (several hundred years before the novels. Eventually it's revealed that a very few other Asians survived the massacres and so did a very few australian aboriginals that were offworld, but can you imagine the casting nightmare?).
5. How do you plan to spend your weekend?
Quietly, except for game on saturday.
