If you don't have at least a cursory understanding of the issues regarding the situation in Iraq, not only now but over the last 30 years, then your opposition is meaningless. And stop saying "War is bad, period."
"War is bad" is one of those blanket statements that ought to get the speaker smacked for stating the obvious. Every good general knows that war is an undesirable thing. But it is sometimes a necessary thing. Don't believe me? Then think where you'd be had the Allies not fought the Axis powers in WWII.
There are many reasons to be against the war in Iraq, whether or not you or I may agree with them. But a generic "Avoid war, because war is bad" isn't one of them.
NOTE: I have many friends who are, frankly, oversensitive to anything I say, especially when strongly worded, assuming it's aimed at them. Fucking stop that. This rant was triggered by something I heard on the radio on the way to work, not one of you. So far as I know, you all have brains.
