So, I was reading an interview with Bonnie Hammer, president of the Sci-Fi Channel. She said something truly stupid:
Um, Bonnie? If they weren't watching the show, they wouldn't be fans. Do you really think people who never watched the show would be "incredible fans"? Especially as you later diss the show as being "too 'in'" to appeal to a broad audience?
No wonder the channel's so screwed up. They want to bitch and moan about how Farscape didn't do as well in the ratings as they'd like while simultaneously ignoring the established facts: that they moved it to a deathslot, that they killed it by not showing the reruns for six months at a time, thus allowing people to think it had been cancelled, and that if they would stop airing such utter crap as John Frelling Edwards, they might be able to afford better shows!
I went from thinking the SF Channel was ok but not great (mainly good for watching old shows like Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers to a fantastic network with many great shows (Farscape, Invisible Man, Outer Limits) to a piece of shite network that has only one thing I want to watch The Dune Chronicles.
Feh.
Oh, and I'm feeling awful this morning.
If all of those incredible fans who wrote in and sent notes and flowers and [whatnot] had actually watched [Farscape] every week, we would have been able to do the [final] 22.
