I (finally> finished Final Fantasy X Sunday.
Nice, emotionally satisfying cinematic ending. I like Japanese videogames, especially RPGs, because they tend to have nice endings, instead of the rushed-into-place endings of many western games.
I'm probably alone here, but to me, a good game can be ruined with a bad ending. I think the biggest problem with the Soul Reaver series is that the endings are so chopped. I mean, sure, Raziel and the rest will be back with another game in the ongoing saga, but sheesh, man, a nice chapter ending would be cool, considering we have to wait years for the next episode.
Deus Ex was a great game. Awesome story. But the endings were... well, not so great. Very tacked-on. FFX... wow. That was an ending worthy of the game, and of the characters, and the animation only improved it. I saw real anguish in Tidus' face, and finally acceptance of his destiny. Wonderful.
Anyway. Back to work.
