johnstonmrI've been feeling really homesick, and also there's an article I like to use in my Journalism class that I can't find anywhere but Napa (because nobody seems to have the Napa Register on 'fiche or 'film).
So on Saturday, while Elli jaunts off to the Bay Area for her sister's birthday event, I'm going to load Tegan into the car and drive to Napa for a day of wandering my home town, having lunch somewhere nostalgic, and getting that damned article printed. When I get home I'm scanning that damned thing into the computer. Maybe I'll even OCR it and post it with commentary... And perhaps I'll post pics of "My Napa," if I don't get run off by the folks who live/own the houses and stores now.
Napa! I love the place. I was actually born in Redwood City, and lived in Redwood City, San Francisco (briefly, and I was VERY YOUNG), and Pinole before moving to Napa, but Napa is where my formative years were spent. The valley's climate and foliage are home to me, and even though it is a very different city from when I lived there, I miss it. If I'm being honest, I'd rather live in Napa than almost anywhere else except maybe the mental Britain that exists only in my mind (since my image of the UK is formed by British TV and not reality, my not having been there yet).
Sadly, I can't afford it.
