Well, that's that over with.

As of yesterday, I have done the last thing I need to do (other than pay the California Teacher Credential Commission my dues) to get my Credential. I am pretty much no longer an Intern teacher.
Of course, I still have to go through BTSA (Beginning Teacher Support & Assessment; translation: More Hoops To Jump Through to Prove I Want to Teach), which is kind of silly considering I've done this two years now, and been assessed all along, but oh well. Once that's done (It will happen all next year) I'll convert from Preliminary credential to Professional Clear Credential, which I'll only have to renew every five years. I'll have Tenure then, too.
And, of course, assessment and learning will continue. A Master's Degree is in my future, and maybe even a Ph.D. eventually.
But the important thing is, I did it.

Talking with Regina (my SO who's a HS Dean), she said that the first 3ish years are where the high turnover happens in teaching (something like 50% or more). Keeping the mental momentum you have, you definitely look setup to do well.
Reg has been teaching either kids or teachers for 19 years and the stories I've heard are hard to hear sometimes, but she still goes into work every day. Even on days where she has to tell 30 seniors that they aren't going to graduate. Teaching isn't easy, it isn't usually pretty, but as a parent (and random datapoint in society) I seriously appreciate the work you do.

I'm not quite halfway in my school goals and I am so completely sick of it, it is really wonderful to see that it can be accomplished, and better, is probably even worth the work. :)
Congratulations again.
