Labor was short. We got to the hospital at 7:30am; Tegan was born at 5:11pm.
Elli was a trooper. At first her contractions were horrible; she was shaking from the pain. Once they got the epidural in, though, the pain became manageable. She was really good at cracking jokes in the middle of labor, which kept us all in good spirits. The final "pushing" stretch was about an hour.
My favorite of Elli's jokes was when the nurse raised the bed, and said "Let's get you raised up, we'll save everyone's backs." Elli said, in the most perfect sarcastic voice, "Oh, am I hurting your backs?"
Tegan was 20 inches at birth, and weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces. They pressed her footprint to my arm, but it's faded now, but I have the baby at home, so meh.
We had a good night last night; she woke a couple of times but we handled it fine. We know it will get worse, but that's ok.
