He's an amazingly funny man that died in the early 90s, I think. He was doing social commentary comedy (much like Carlin, who I bet influenced him) before Dennis Miller and Dennis Leary.
Actually, some of Leary's stuff sounds eerily similar to Bill Hicks. I'l loan you the CD sometime.

Pretty sick, he was. Those who refused the kool-aid were chased through the jungle and shot. Very few made it out.
