11 Injured, one critically, on Disneyland's "Thunder Mountain" roller coaster.

Hmm. Of course, I just found out, searching to see if there had been previous accidents in the Magic Kingdom, that there have -- and yet I've never heard of them. Interesting control of PR they've got.

It does explain why Space Mountain is shut down for refurbishment; a couple in Utah just sued Disneyland over an injury when one of the cars on that ride derailed.
Edit: "just" was two years ago, July of 2001.

Eh. Doesn't matter. I'll still go and have fun; the ratio of accidents is small compared to the people who ride them every day.

Though a derailment on the Matterhorn could seriously ruin your day trip life.

Yeah, that Inside the Mouse book talked about accidents, injuries and deaths at Disney, and how they control the press around those kinds of incidents. There was that woman a few years ago who tried to take advantage of that by claiming to have been raped in a Disney hotel and asking for a huge settlement to keep quiet, but she was proven to have been lying.

According to a recent news report, one person has died.

A complete tangent...

I seem to remember you remarking on Queer Eye For The Straight Guy and thought you might enjoy this (http://www.panfandom.com/nuke/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=245&mode=&order=0&thold=0) article. Gushing aside, it does adress the issue of playing to stereotype at a few points. I've fallen in love with the show, and wouldn't mind having more of your thoughts.

I've been to Disneyland 4 times in my life. And each time I've gone the Matterhorn has been broke that day. I have yet to ride that one. But perhaps I should also take it as a sign that I shouldn't ride it, if I had the chance, too.
