Poetry is art: no matter how atrocious we think a piece to be, somebody, somewhere will relate to it and be moved by it.
True. For instance, Marge Pearcy is highly regarded in academic circles. I'd rather dig my eyeballs out with a spork, stomp on them, and eat them than read another of her damned poems.
