Angry mini-rant
Over and over, almost everywhere I go online (And offline, too, when it comes to my family or some of my in-laws), I hear that tired old refrain, "If you don't like it, then move to Iraq.* I bet you'd love it there!" This argument irritates me on two fronts: First, the choice is NOT "America" or "Repressive Regime Nation;" there are other first-world nations to choose from. Second, the right to dissent is guaranteed by our government; these idiots who spew that crap don't seem to get that they are the ones who are being unpatriotic.
Nothing in the definition of "patriotism" says I have to agree with everything my nation does.
On the other hand... You know what, Conservative America? I'll make you a deal. You give me the money it would take to move my family and I to England, and we'll get out of your hair and let you take this nation to the shitpile. No? Then shut the frack up and respect my right to dissent with your opinions.
For frack's sake.
* Or China, or Venezuela, Russia, or some other repressive place.
