I think my school is going down the tubes. As in, I'm not even sure it will be here next year. This morning I began making contact with site admin for other schools, sort of laying down some groundwork for looking for another job.
In the last month, we've lost twenty students. Twenty students left our not-so-hallowed halls for other schools. In some cases, they went to better schools. In other cases, they left because they couldn't stand a teacher (one of our math teachers is a complete jackass; he kicks kids out of class for disagreeing with him politely). In the last two days alone, we've lost six kids; four of them are awesome kids we're going to miss.
And two of the newer teachers think it's no big deal, because they're not their precious freshmen. The shortsightedness of that just boggles my mind--the district is openly talking about closing schools; we're at Far less than half-enrollment, we've got far too many teachers for our enrollment, and they think it's good that these kids are leaving?
This place is quickly becoming a madhouse.
