A Love-letter to England
Dear England:
I love you. I love you for Doctor Who, and Spooks/MI-5, and Torchwood and Robin Hood (delightful in its total camp-ness), and for all the shows I've seen from your emerald isle in the last thirty-six years.
Thank you for including gay characters and interracial relationships without ever needing to make a huge deal out of them. Thank you for making both hard-hitting dramas and completely funny comedies. Thank you for making shows that make me cry and laugh in the same episode.
And thank you for not sending your crappy shows--you must have some--to America. We have enough of our own.
Please don't ever stop.
Love,
Mahdi.
Of course America has good shows, too. But until recently it had far, far fewer.
