Mr. Johnston, Freak Teacher
I got more freak points (and some kudos) today from kids.
During passing period, there was a huge kerfuffle over a Praying Mantis, which kids were basically freaking out over and torturing by tossing it at each other. I stepped in, bent down to it, and held out my hand; the Mantis leaped into my hand and crawled up to my shoulder, where it stayed until I took it to a tree, coaxed it into my hand, and placed it in the tree.
One of the kids I taught Romanticism to last year got a weird look in his eyes and said "Wow, you really ARE a Romantic!"
I left the spiritual side of my Romanticist beliefs behind a while back. I think the Universe has been telling me to get back to it. Good thing my Box o' Sacred Things survived the fire.

URG. And YAY!
URG: I am tired of having to remember to blink my left eye. I have to concentrate to close it; it's lost the blink reflex. So I have to remember to close it if I want to avoid iot being all dried out and nasty.
YAY!: ATT&T finally got our phone line up and running, so we actually have a house phone again.
