I teach at a charter school. Every once in a while, someone tells me, with obvious approval, that that means I teach in a better school than if I taught in a non-charter school.

Those people ought to read this article about a charter school.

Or consider VAPAC, a Sacramento Charter that has been shut down due to its practices.

As I've always said, charter schools come in both good and bad varieties, just like non-charter schools. They are NOT the panacea that will change education.

Still reading HPaTDH. About 1/3 through it.

I've mentioned before that there was a lot of political backstabbing and idiotic shenanigans at my school last year. It appears that of the ten teachers we had last year, only four of us are returning, and three of us are second-year teachers. Wow. Two of those who left just quit in the last few weeks.

It's going to be a whole new school year. Can't wait to see what happens. This will be the year that decides whether or not I'll return next year myself.
