Two years ago today, I stood before most of our friends and family (well, ok, a fair sampling of our family, but I'm Portugeuse, so let's not get crazy--there were a LOT of missing people!), and before the Universe, and married my best friend in the world.

Sometimes we fight. Sometimes we fight like the world is ending. But mostly? Mostly, we laugh.

We laugh at silly voices, at tv, at each other. We laugh at the world around us and at the antics of our unborn child in her mother's womb. We laugh, because life is too short to spend it crying.

We geek out together. I was fortunate enough to marry someone who shares my love of science fiction and geektastic things, and even where we differ, we still complement each other. Lightsabers and blasters and spaceships, oh my! (The first time my wife--then still "just" my girlfriend--saw my old-school Battlestar Galactica blaster, she said "Can we have sex right now?" How could I not marry her?)

We are compatible. Spritually, even (mostly) politically, we are good together. And I find that, while I do still enjoy the occasional moments of solitude, I cannot any longer imagine a world where she is not with me. As we get ready to embark on the next phase of our voyage, that of parenthood, I can only say:

I love you, [livejournal.com profile] elisandra.
