I just talked to a guy at Sac City Unified, and he's left me so utterly confused as to my status that I'm not even sure whether I need to call someone else or not.

Background: I'm attending the Project Impact classes. Theoretically, the only remaining thing I must do is secure a teaching position. Theoretically, SCUSD loves hiring Impact interns, because they've had a phenomenal success record as opposed to teachers who went through traditional fifth-year teacher training programs (I've been told this not only by Impact personnel but by several principals and teachers in the district).

Theoretically.

In reality, it's like pulling teeth. Yesterday, one of my fellow interns, Alicia, told me that she had contacted district HR (she works for the district in a non-teaching capacity) to find out why her application hadn't been forwarded to the site principal. She was told that she'd been paper screened out, because she doesn't have a credential. When she explained that she was a Project Impact intern, the person she was talking to said "oops!" and fixed it all. She suggested I call and make sure of my status, since I had applied to fifteen positions in the district.

So I called this morning, and got routed to some guy who didn't seem to know whether or not Impact interns were even being hired this year, didn't seem to understand that I'm IN the program, and wasn't ready to include me on his interview list because of that. So I need to find out from Alicia who she talked to and get to that person, because otherwise I'm effectively screwed, so far as this district is concerned.

Thank the Nine I have the Pipeline job fair this weekend, because I'm suddenly getting worried again.
