After my second session of Ethnicity 110, I feel a lot better about the class. The teacher's not as into victim philosophy as he sounded; he started off sounding hard-nosed, but now he's settled down. The operative quote today was "You don't learn about this in most history classes, because most courses are Euro-centric. There's nothing wrong with that; it's just incomplete. This class is about filling in the blanks."
He's also not a "Asians did everything first!" type; he admitted today that while he'd love to believe the theory that Zheng He's treasure fleet made it to America pre-Columbus, he won't believe it until there is real and irrefutable evidence, which so far there is not.
