In which the Mahdi weirds his wife out, and bugs his nephew at the same time
Sacramento's Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament was rededicated this weekend after two years of renovations.
( Warning: The paragraph hidden by this cut-tag discusses my personal beliefs. You have been warned. Anything you can't handle is therefore your own problem. )
(Now the part that will weird my wife out, a bit)
All that stated, if I had known about the rededication yesterday, I would have gone. I may not believe in "God," but the roots of my Catholic/Christian past run deep, and I love the beauty of that cathedral. It's where I go to light candles for my mother and grandmother -- not because I think it does any real good, but because it strikes me as a reasonable way of remembering them, as I can't easily get to either of their gravesites. (My mother would doubtless prefer I light up a joint to remember her, but that's not going to happen.)
Besides, the Rite of Dedication isn't something one gets to see often. It would have been nice to see. Of course, the Rite is three hours long, and I would likely have grown bored before it was over, so all in all, maybe it's a good thing I didn't know. :)
Editted: Joke removed. Either no one got it, or they took it too seriously, so it's outta there.
