My VCR is ancient as the lifespan of such devices is reckoned. It is over 15 years old.

It apparently decided, while recording the Friday night Sci Fi lineup, that it was not going to record anymore, and shut down. So I missed both the new episodes of Galactica. This made me furious at the damned box.

Then I got online to see if there was another showing sometime soon, and discovered that, indeed, on Sunday night they will be re-airing the episodes. Thank the Lords of Kobol. I'm ok again.

I know, I know, it's just a TV show. But when you've been anticipating something so much, it's a huge letdown to be denied by a piece of technology.

I am sitting on my bed in my apartment for the last weekend ever.

This time next week, I will officially live in a new house, with [livejournal.com profile] elisandra, making our home together. And even though we won't be married until June 19, it's a huge step, one which carries some of the same emotional changes and impact that the wedding itself will. Because the wedding, at this point, is almost -- but not quite -- a formality. We're already fully aware that our lives belong to each other and to the children who will -- someday, in a few more years -- grace our lives.

I find that I'm stressed over the packing, and the arranging of phone lines and power and all that, but not because I'll be living with Elli. That, I'm perfectly ok with.

We decided to move in together now instead of waiting until June for a couple of reasons. Primarily, because moving and planning the last stages of the wedding all in the same three weeks would be a pain and an ordeal we don't need. Secondarily, we found the perfect house and were able (with some appreciated help) to take advantage of it.

In the words of Kosh: And so, it begins.
