Geek Social Fallacies courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] urban_bohemian.

I see several all of those in my interactions with various people. They bug me. A lot.

I most vociferously loathe numbers 1 and 5.

You are Luke Skywalker.
You are Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight, the one who
will bring balance to the force. You're full of
angst and get along pretty well with friends,
but you've got father issues, dude.

Those who would say that Gen Xers (and the generation after us) have no heart and no regard for anyone but themselves need to read this site.

Hrm. Some of you need to update your Amazon wishlists more often. ;)

Hmmm. I wonder ...

As much as I love fantasy fiction, I'm not good at getting it written. I can come up with ideas; I can build a fantasy-based world, either modern or more pastoral, but telling stories in that world is like pulling teeth. With pliers.

Similarly, I love to play Fantasy-based RPGs and more "hard" Sci-Fi settings almost equally (Sci Fi wins out by a small margin). But when GMing, I am unbelieveably terrible at coming up with Fantasy plots/details (I can build a world, but not run a game in it without being kind of bored), but I love making plots for SF games. And I have MUCH more fun in running a SF game. I guess there's something about sic-fi settings -- whether "hard" or "soft" Sci Fi -- that appeals to me more.

And I find myself wondering if maybe I ought to apply that to writing ... try to write something more sci-fi based, and see where that takes me.
