It turns out I lost *more* than 20 pages of my novel. All I have left is the tiny fragment of prologue I posted here. And no, there are no backups since page 4. And no, I do NOT want to hear it.
Dammit. Not a good time for that, really. I'm feeling massively uncreative at this time. Nothing I've put on paper for my writing or typed into lj for my game is making any sense, so none of it is kept.
And I'm trying really hard not to vent about some things, because 1) they're just gaming-related, 2)not at all important in the great scheme of things, and 3) would only hurt/infuriate people. But I'm not really used to keeping this stuff in, either. GAH!
GAAAAAAHHHH!!!

The (rather inaccurate) Birthday Meme. Blame
britgeekgrrl; I know I do.
Uncommonly attractive
vivacious
impulsive
demanding
does not care for criticism
ambitious
intelligent
talented
likes to play with its fate
can be egoistic
very reliable and trust-worthy
faithful and prudent lover
sometimes brains rule over heart
but takes partnership very serious.

Perusing Gaming sites looking for an old article I wanted to quote to
g31g3r while explaining my hatred for MMORPGs, I found an interesting new term: Alternate Reality Games. ARGs and MMORPGs have some severe differences.
MMORPGs:
The emphasis in these is on level-building. There is usually very little actual roleplaying going on, but there's a TON of OOC chatter and insults flying around. In the early levels, rats can kill you easily because your character has all the combat ability of a four year-old starving child with necrotic fasciitis.
ARGs
ARGs focus more on the story, on the characters cooperating. Neverwinter Nights would be a prime example of an ARG -- even if your Sorceror is only level 10, you can help out that 20th level Fighter easily.
MMORPG games: EverQuest, Asheron's Call
ARG: Neverwinter Nights (Primarily a single-player game, but with great MP functionality), The Beast.
