It's not final, but it's a nice first step.
But this raised my hackles:
Hey, asshole! Yeah, you. Two things. First, if my having the rights this bill would give me weakens your marriage, then your marriage isn't worth the paper the license is printed on, and both you and your wife should be ashamed of yourselves. And "value"? This is marriage, not a product on "The Price Is Right", for crap's sake.
Second, how does it cheapen your marriage? No, seriously. Enumerate the ways in which my having the ability to tell the Doctors to do what my husband wants instead of what his parents want cheapen your marriage? How does my having the ability to leave my possessions to Mike without burdening him with a huge tax bill make your marriage any less than the wonderful committment of two people to share their lives it is supposed to be?
Asshole.
But this raised my hackles:
"You don't deserve those marriage rights unless you are a man and woman. No other relationship is equal to it or should claim to be," Thomasson said. "Awarding marriage equivalent rights to non-married couples cheapens the value of every marriage in the state."
