In an article on the current Massachussetts case involving the possible legalizatin of gay marriage, I found this favored chestnut of the right:
And my response is "So let them."
I mean, really, what is so wrong with consenting adults who want to be in a group marriage being allowed to do so? It doesn't hurt ME if Jim wants to be married to Jane and Ellen. Hell, it doesn't bother me if Jim wants to be married to Jane, Ellen, and Anthony.
Maybe I just read too much Robert Heinlein growing up, but the idea of group marriages doesn't bother me. Hell, I'll even go so far as to say that if Mike and I could find the proper person(s), we'd do it.
Carried to its extreme, however, Justice Martha Sosman argued, that argument could justify the legalization of polygamy.
"What would the difference be?" Sosman said. "These would be adults, consenting adults, saying this is the relationship we want."
And my response is "So let them."
