I think I'm going to have to have some one-on-one "heart-to-hearts" with a few people soon.

Too many things that should be aired from both sides are hiding in the shadows, which makes friendships difficult. I need to track the shadows and stomp on them. If that means a little discomfort, well, so be it.

No, don't read that into it. I'd be happier if you were a Scaper and watched it with us. But I felt it a bad idea to blow off the other Scapers for the game.

July 27th, 1pm: Celtic Musical group "Dark Island" performing at the Folsom Outlets Java City. Dark Island includes my coworker and almost-friend Cynthia.

August 2, 6pm: Early dinner at the Pub, to be followed by Farscape stuff, wherever that is that night.

August 3, 7pm - late: Shakespeare In the Park's Much Ado About Nothing, featuring my oldest friend, Ed Gyles Jr, and his wife, who began our association as a barely-tolerated annoyance and is now counted as a very good friend.

In 7th Sea, Sorcery is the result of pacts made long, long ago with what the rulebook calls "Beings of power".

The Vaticine Church calls these beings Demons.

But what if they weren't demons, but aliens? Perhaps the Syrne, or some other species, made a bargain with those ancient nobles who wanted to overthrow the Emperor of the Numan Empire for genetic changes giving them certain powers? Of course, to a citizen of Theah, there would be little to no difference.

Just what were the Syrne, and why are their artifacts so hard to understand?

And BTW, the lost Sorcery of Zerstorung is nasty, and I hope I never see it IC unless I'm wielding it. ;)
