Worldcon

Ok. So I've worked out just how to save for Sci-Fi Geek Paradise Worldcon so I can afford my hotel bill and still have some funds to play with.

My only real question is the hotel...

If I stay at the Fairmont (or one of the other Con Hotels), I'm looking at $120 a night. When I was at EMH this would have been no issue, but now? It's problematic, though not insurmountable.

The obvious solution is to find a roommate. This is acceptable, though not perfect -- I can't sleep with someone I don't know in the room, and none of my friends-who-could-afford-it seem inclined to go (some with good reason). Also, I'm an incredibly private person even with friends. I'd almost prefer to room alone, though my need for buying things tells me that's the worst option.

Another option is to find a cheaper-rate hotel room at a Motel-6 or something, but the problems inherent there are larger -- I'd have to drive/walk to the Convention every day, I would have to NOT party at the Con or risk being unable to find my hotel, and it would be just a little less fun.

Argh. Oh, and remind me next time to buy my ticket when they first become available, eh?

Mike says we ought to plan to go to 2005 in Glasgow, Scotland. I told him let's wait and see what happens.

Hey, here's a thought -- to help me avoid overreacting, please, if you repost something you think got dumped accidentally, place the word "Repost" or something near the top.
