Oh... that's it.
All day I've felt like there was something I was forgetting. I just realised what that is.
Today is the day my father died.
Not my biological father -- he died in December -- but my real father. The one who taught me to ride a horse, weld a seam, build a fence, and most of all, to be who I am despite what it costs.
I miss him, and the older I get, the more I feel it. And the more I regret how things ended between us, and the way we allowed our hurt to drive a gap between us.
I miss you, Dad. I hope you're enjoying yourself, wherever the Universe placed you this time around.
