Anniversaries are odd.
Mike and I were going to go to see a movie tonight, but there's just nothing we're both really interested in seeing. There's several movies I want to see, but he wants to see none of them -- Gosford Park, Birthday Girl, Kate & Leopold, etc.
So we thought about going out to dinner, but that's kind of eh to both of us. So we've hit upon a new plan, one I think is good.
I'm going to make dinner, and we're going to go pick up a couple of movies on DVD we haven't seen -- which will cost us just slightly more than a movie, and less than dinner would, and we'll have the movies in stock after that.
And somehow, the idea of making dinner myself is so much more satisfying. I make dinner all the time, but it's rarely anything special, for time reasons. Now I'm home all day, and I can lavish special attention on a fantastic dinner. That's something I love to do, and I just don't do it enough these days, partly because what I love to cook isn't Mike's favorite foods (Mexican, European stuff), and partly because too damned many of my friends are vegetarians. Not that I can't cook vegetarian food if I try, but it's not the stuff I grew up cooking and love to make. And it's somehow less satisfying to me to cook vegetarian foods. I wonder why. Hm.
On another note... these Olympics commercials are pretty damned funny.
