Tonight was one of those times.

Mike and I went to see "AI" which, as I'm sure all my erudite readers know, stands for "Artificial Intelligence." It's the new Speilberg movie, which he took on after Stanley Kubrick, and I'll disappoint -- nay, anger -- Kubrick's fans by saying that I don't think the film would have been quite as good had old Stanley lived to lense it.

I won't give away plot points, but I will say this -- it was a thing of beauty. A bit overly sentimental at times, it nevertheless wove a tight, gripping story that kept me interested the entire film even though I was exhausted and wanting to sleep before it began (we saw a late showing).

Some highlights -- the Teddy bear (I want one!!!), Joe the Android Gigolo (Jude Law has never been so funny and yet so heartbreaking), and the Teddy. And did I mention how wonderful the Teddy bear was?

Low points -- William Hurt, but then I expected that (Does the man EVER act with any personality?). The true-to-life yet aggravating neo-luddites who (CENSORED TO AVOID SPOILING).

Wow. Go. See this movie. Now. NOW, I said! Obey the Mahdi, for I AM the Kwisatz Haderach!
